Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) claimed their first victory of the season after comprehensively beating the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Match 14 of the VIVO Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 at the M. A Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Wednesday.
The toughest T20 saw two teams clash, both of who had forgettable records at Chepauk. One had won their last game at the venue in 2012, while the other had lost 6 games played there. Yes, it is SRH vs PBKS. Who would better their record at Chennai?
PBKS won the toss and chose to bat. They had a really slow start, and then, Rahul fell. Soon, their batting lineup crashed, as it had against Chennai. Wickets were taken regularly, and SRH bundled them up for 120.
All of their 5 bowlers took at least a wicket, Khaleel taking 3. Shahrukh was the shining light amidst all this despair for the Kings, again, like in their last match. Was this going to be a repeat of their encounter with Chennai?
After skittling Punjab, with superb bowling, The Sunrisers got off to a perfect quickfire start. Warner and Bairstow attacked the bowling, while also staying a bit cautious at times.
They both amassed a 50 run partnership, and SRH seemed to come back to winning ways at last. Their partnership was then broken by Fabian Allen, who dismissed Warner. SRH then had no qualms, and they ended their losing streak in this IPL.
PBKS: 120/10; Shahrukh Khan – 22; Khaleel – 3/21
SRH: 121/1; Jonny Bairstow – 63*; Fabian Allen – 1/22
