Chennai Super Kings (CSK) registered their third successive win after overcoming a spirited Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) unit in Match 15 of the VIVO Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 in Mumbai on Wednesday.

A face-off between The Kings and the Knights; one between Hussey and Hussey; who would come out on top? Who would win the battle?

KKR won the toss and opted to bowl first. CSK had a few batting woes,  especially with Ruturaj not delivering. But today was a different day, a new opportunity – and Ruturaj made us believe in that age-old saying by scoring a fabulous 50, before getting out to CV Varun.

Then, Moeen came and struck a few shots, as did Dhoni. They both had small, yet useful contributions. The star of the innings, however, was Faf Du Plessis. He got to a superb, well-paced 95*. Jadeja hit a last-ball six to get the total to 220, a mammoth one, for sure.

In reply, KKR couldn’t start as well, as they lost Gill in the very first over. Rana followed him soon after. Morgan also couldn’t fulfill his captain role, getting out for a single-digit score.

Narine, after a first-ball boundary, went back to the pavilion. All these wickets were bagged by Deepak Chahar, who was in sublime form. Then, Ngidi couldn’t resist and picked up one wicket for himself, dismissing Tripathi.

Russell and Karthik started wreaking havoc, the former also managing 50, scaring the Kings. But then, they were saved by Sam Curran. Karthik and Cummins carried on for some time, till the former got out to Ngidi.
