Chennai Super Kings (CSK) marked their return to the top of the table after registering a comfortable victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Match 23 of the VIVO Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Wednesday.

Match 23 was between two of the three south Indian titans – SRH vs CSK. CSK, if they win this match, would go back on top, while for SRH, a win would be a signal for things being back on track.

Winning the toss, SRH opted to bat first. Barstow was removed early – signalling trouble. But, it was averted and innings was steadied by both Pandey and Warner.

Both of them continued to bat for a very long while, and we started thinking they would shift gears soon. But that shift change never came, and they both were dismissed trying to do so.

In came Jadhav and Williamson, and the latter was on fire straight away, thus putting a question mark on the decision to not send him at no. 3.

But all’s well that ends well,  and it certainly ended well for Hyderabad – Jadhav hitting a six off the last ball to get the team total to 171.

Starting the second innings, Ruturaj and Faf were on song from the get go. Both of them smashed the ball from the beginning. Faf got to his fifty first, Ruturaj following soon.

Both of them were managing well until Rashid Khan cleaned up the wickets of Gaikwad. But,  it seemed too late. Moeen then arrived on the scene, hit a few boundaries, and went back.
