Punjab Kings (PBKS) made an impressive comeback in the tournament after registering an impressive victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Match 26 of the VIVO Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Friday.

Friday’s match was between the Reds – PBKS vs RCB. Both had quality bowlers and batsmen, and it was to see whether Rahul could overcome his ”strike rate” concern and whether King Kohli would return to form.

RCB won the toss, opting to have a go with the ball. And they did live up to their decision, except during a few parts of the match. The first few overs saw Prabh Simran, the replacement opener, get out.

But Gayle and Rahul steadied things a bit, and we were able to witness a drop, a little of the Gayle storm. But, like a ship sinks without the anchor, PBKS struggled and sank after Gayle was dismissed.

Rahul, though, went on, striking a balance between being the captain Rahul and the batsman Rahul. He managed to silence all the haters, scoring a brilliant fifty ( the strike rate’s not bad! ) Harpreet helped him to get a final flourish to almost touching the 180 marks.

In reply, DDP and Kohli walked on to the pitch, but the former had to go after hitting a six off Meredith. Kohli and Patidar had a stint, but then Harpreet Brar came on to the scene.

He took two wickets in two balls – that of Kohli and Maxwell. Later, he also dismissed Mr. 360. Patidar couldn’t stay for long and went back to the pavilion.

From there, it was a slump. Jamieson and Harshal played cameos, but it was too little, too late. Still, it helped RCB in terms of net run rate.  PBKS  won by 35 runs, and it was a much-needed win.

Brief Scores:

PBKS –  179/5; Rahul – 91*; Jamieson – 2/32

RCB – 145/8; Kohli – 35; Harpreet – 3/19

MoM: It was a debate between Brar and Rahul, but Brar was given the award, as he contributed with both bat and ball.
