In addition to the return from hiatus with a new chapter, the cover and a new volume have also been announced. Ten chapters (381-390) of the manga have not yet been collected into a volume. Volume 37 is scheduled for publication on November 4.
Yoshihiro Togashi, who just created a Twitter account, has been tweeting about his everyday activities and drawing process. His most recent post references to chapter 400 and indicates that chapter 396 has been done.
The serialization of Hunter x Hunter began in 1998 in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump. It has been suspended since November 2018. In recent years, Togashi has struggled with back pain-related health difficulties; he even produced schematics to illustrate how to avoid damage when picking up dropped objects. This resulted in frequent manga hiatuses.
Before discussing the publishing date of Chainsaw Man Chapter 108, please tell us more about the manga’s narrative and characters.
About Chainsaw Man
The plot of Chainsaw Man centers on a young protagonist named Denji, who is also a Devil Hunter, in a 1997 setting where devils coexist with humans.
In this universe, each devil possesses unique skills and reflects a human fear; for example, the zombie devil represents the dread of zombies, while the fox devil represents the fear of foxes.
Therefore, whatever that humans fear in any manner will appear as a type of the devil, and the more people fear something, the more strong the devil will be, such as the demon of Guns.
The narrative begins with Denji, who is compelled to work for the Yakuza since his father owed them a tremendous amount of money when he was young, and after his father’s death, the head of this wicked organization threatens to murder Denji unless he pays the loan under any circumstances.
Denji has a devil companion named Pochita, who is essentially a Chainsaw Devil. With Pochita’s assistance, Denji has been slaughtering demons, which are then sold on the Black Market by the Yakuza, therefore slowly paying off his father’s debt. After his father’s death, when Denji met Pochita and assisted him, they both had a contract, but due to their debt, they were living in abject poverty and could hardly afford food.
On a certain day, the owner of the Yakuza brings Denji and Pochita to their usual devil-hunting job in an abandoned warehouse, but this turns out to be an ambush, and they are attacked brutally from behind; the reason behind this betrayal was the Yakuza wanted to become stronger, and so they accepted a contract with a zombie devil, who had a special hatred against the devil hunters.
In the narrative of Chainsaw Man, demons can cure themselves by drinking blood, and while Denji and Pochita are in the garbage, some of Denji’s blood trickles down into Pochita’s mouth.
As a result, Pochita gains the power to establish a new contract with Denji, which stipulates that in exchange for obtaining the heart of a Pochita, Denji must live a regular life, which was something they both had always desired.
This concludes our discussion of the manga’s narrative and characters; let’s move on to the publishing date of Chapter 108.
